“Science with a snack” at the Calvario Market

On the occasion of World Aquaculture Day and within the CSIC Science and Technology Week, on 30 November the Institute of Marine Research (IIM-CSIC) is organising an activity open to the public at the Mercado do Calvario in Vigo.
The talk, which will take place at 11:30, will be given by María Saura, a researcher specialising in genetics. During her presentation, she will discuss the latest advances in modern aquaculture and its key role in the conservation of marine ecosystems and the production of sustainable food.
Aquaculture plays a key role in global food supply and environmental protection. Its practice is constantly evolving to adapt to environmental challenges and meet the growing needs of the global market.
The talk will explore topics such as the genetic improvement of aquatic species, their adaptation to environmental changes and the sustainable methods used to ensure the quality of the products we consume.
The activity is open to the public and no prior booking is required. We invite everyone to take part, learn first-hand about advances in aquaculture and enjoy science in a local market setting.
