Scientific and Technical Support Unit

The Scientific and Technical Support Unit (UACT) aims to provide a higher level of coordination, operability and visibility to the research support resources offered by the Marine Research Institute.

This unit comprises a total of 15 laboratories whose mission is to offer scientific and technical advice and services to the Institute’s research groups. Most of them make their capacities available to the public and to private organizations that request them. The laboratory staff are specialized in the techniques offered, while the equipment is adapted to the latest technologies and is constantly updated. To find the service that best suits your needs, contact the UACT Coordination at uact@iim.csic.es As a research institute focused on innovation, in addition to these services we have other innovation capacities that can be adapted to your goals.

The functions of this unit are:

  • Support and coordinate the scientific and technical research needs of the different IIM departments, as well as those of other public or private organizations.
  • Develop the methodological research and experimental techniques needed to improve and expand our services.
  • Advise the scientific community and companies in the sector on everything related to its field of activity.
  • Provide training to research and technical staff on the techniques applied in the laboratories so that they can take full advantage of the potential of the available infrastructure

The UACT coordinates the infrastructure and research activity of 15 laboratories that offer a wide range of services, as well as scientific and technical advice, to the Institute’s research groups and to public and private organizations that request them. Our team carries out all activities in compliance with current occupational safety regulations.
