UACT - S&T Support Unit
The Scientific-Technical Support Unit (UACT) aims to provide a greater level of coordination, operability and visibility to the research support resources offered by the Institute of Marine Research.
This unit includes a total of 15 laboratories, whose mission is to provide scientific and technical advice and services to the Institute’s research groups. Most of them offer their capabilities to any public and private organizations that request them.
The laboratory personnel specializes in the techniques offered, and the instrumentation is adapted to the latest technologies and undergoes continuous renewal.

The functions of this unit are:
- To support and coordinate the scientific-technical research needs of the different departments of the IIM, as well as of other public or private organizations.
- To develop the necessary methodological research & experimental techniques to improve and expand services.
- To advise the scientific community and companies in the sector about any aspects related to their scope of action.
- To provide researchers and technicians with training on the techniques implemented in laboratories so that they can make the most of the potential of the available infrastructures.
The UACT coordinates the infrastructures and research activity of 15 laboratories that provide a variety of services, as well as scientific and technical advice, to the Institute’s research groups and to the public and private organizations that request them.
All activities are carried out by our team in accordance with current Occupational Safety and Prevention regulations.
