Santiago de Compostela / Vigo / A Coruña, June 2025. CSIC is joining the commemoration of World Ocean Day from Galicia with activities promoted by the IIM in Vigo and the A Coruña Oceanographic Centre of IEO-CSIC.
The proposals aim to bring the ocean closer to society, highlight the importance of marine research and raise awareness of the need to protect marine ecosystems. The programme includes outreach activities, open doors and meetings with researchers and technical staff.
World Ocean Day is an opportunity to underline the role of science in understanding the sea, improving the management of marine resources and addressing global challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution.
