The IIM UCC+i publishes an article comparing Scientific Culture institutions in Spain and the United Kingdom

Gabriela Ojeda, head of the IIM Scientific Culture Unit, is the lead author of the article “Organisational forms of science communication: European higher education systems in the United Kingdom and Spain as paradigms”.

Published in the journal Higher Education, the article examines, from a comparative perspective, the different institutional structures for the social communication of science in the university systems of Spain and the United Kingdom. This study offers an overview of two “Models for the Dissemination and Management of Scientific Culture” through the analysis of the main organisational structures that make them up: Spain’s Scientific Culture and Innovation Units (UCC+I) and their counterparts in the United Kingdom.

The article explores the differences and similarities between these units from a structural and functional perspective, as well as the main factors that drive and condition both management systems. It concludes with a series of recommendations for the further development of the Spanish science system in the field of Scientific Culture.

Alongside Ojeda, the article is authored by Viviana Fernández Marcial (University of A Coruña), Clare Wilkinson (University of the West of England) and A. Erik Stengler (SUNY Oneonta).
