Vigo, 04 of November of 2022. Personal scientific of the Institute Spanish of Oceanography (IEO, CSIC), in collaboration with otros teams of research of the Institute of Marine Research (IIM-CSIC), of the Institute of Sciences of the Sea (ICM-CSIC), of the universidades of the Palmas of Gran Canaria (Institute Universitario of Sanidad Animal) and Azores and of the Museu of the Baleia of Madeira (Portugal), acaban of publicar a estudio en the that analizan the posición en the cadena trófica of varias especies of delfines en the latest years through the Analysis of isótopos estables en muestras of a colección of ejemplares varados en Canarias, Madeira and Azores from 1996.
This novedoso work, that acaba of publicarse en abierto en the journal Marine Ecology Progress Series, demuestra cómo the cambios recientes en the productividad of the oceans and the disponibilidad of presas have modificado the posición of the delfines en the cadena trófica. Thus, the conclusiones of the estudio sugieren that the especies more oceánicas, the delfín common, have incrementado progresivamente su posición en the cadena trófica, to the tener cada vez that alimentarse of especies with a posición also alta en the cadena trófica. “These cambios se interpretan the respuesta the disminución en the productividad primaria and en the populations of some fish, the sardina, indicada en studies previos”, señala Antonio Bode, researcher of the Institute Spanish of Oceanography and first autor of the estudio.
Without embargo, en especies of hábitos more coastal, the delfín listado, su posición en the cadena trófica has disminuido to the tener that desplazarse the areas more oceánicas, donde se feed se especies pertenecientes the niveles more bajos of the cadena.
By otra starts from, the estudio demuestra that the delfines, debido the su gran movilidad and vida relativamente larga, can ser bueno indicadores of cambios the gran escala en the ecosistema. “These organisms, longevos and with a movilidad elevada, are bioindicadores muy eficientes, ya that are capaces of integrar the condiciones of the ecosistema en grandes escalas geográficas and temporales”, notes Bode.
