This project by the Institute of Marine Research, Spanish National Research Council (IIM-CSIC) and the Council of Galician Culture (CCG), in collaboration with Culturmar, aims to establish a dialogue between scientific knowledge and traditional and experiential knowledge around “ardora”, the bioluminescence produced by phytoplankton blooms.

This bloom —usually of the species Noctiluca scintillans, but also of other species— is related to environmental conditions and to the dynamics of the sea. The event will bring together researchers, seafarers and cultural agents to share perspectives and experiences around this phenomenon.
