Mónica Carrera, senior scientist in the Marine Products Chemistry group at IIM-CSIC, has received the award in the “Research” category of the 2023 Alumni-UVigo Awards.
The awards recognise the personal and professional careers of members of the Alumni-UVigo community who stand out for their contribution to society. Carrera was honoured for a scientific career focused on advanced proteomics applied to food quality and safety, especially in the study of fish allergens.
Her work has led to patents, the registration of new food allergens and rapid methods for detecting allergens in food. She is currently involved in the development of vaccines for fish allergy.
