Vigo, April 11, 2023. The Institue of Marine Research of the Spanish Research Council (IIM-CSIC) in Vigo will resume, this Thursday, April 13, the holding of periodic seminars on marine science.

Under the name Encontros Espresso (Espresso Get-Togethers), these seminars will have various formats; from 20-minute talks on a specific topic to round tables with up to 3 participants from different disciplines.

The sessions will be broadcast from the Meeting Room of the IIM-CSIC headquarters in the Vigo neighborhood of Bouzas and will be open to the entire online community, through chat rooms and broadcasts. The lectures will be in Galician, Spanish or English.

To open this cycle, the IIM-CSIC will have the view of Lucía Pita Galán, researcher at the Institut de Ciéncies del Mar (ICM-CSIC) in Barcelona, with a seminar entitled: "Living together: Diving into the mechanisms of sponge - microbe - environment interactions”. Other Encontros Espresso, with a date yet to be confirmed, will include various topics such as the microbiome of the octopus skin, the behavior of sharks and how it relates to their conservation, systems biology applied to microbial metabolism or even a tour for five key moments in the history of the Marine Research Institute.
