Biografía

Francisco is currently a PhD student at Institute of Marine research – CSIC (IIM – CSIC) in Vigo, Spain. He conducts his project in marine science and fisheries management (supervisor Fran Saborido – Rey, Institute of Marine Research). In his research, he is working for achieve a temporal and environmental analysis of maternal effects on the productivity of *Sebastes fasciatus* and its effects on recruitment at Flemish Cap, a fishing bank located in international waters 300 miles from Newfoundland, Canada. The aim is to study the possibility that fishing pressure, which modifies population demography and reduces reproductive potential, and climate change are determining the recruitment pulses associated with the maternal effects of the adult population on progeny. During his master and PhD studies, he participated in five research surveys as a scientist crew: - FLEMISH CAP-16 Bottom trawl fishery survey. 29 June to 26 July 2016. R/V “Vizconde de Eza”. - FLEMISH CAP-19 Bottom trawl fishery survey. 1 July to 1 August 2019. R/V “Vizconde de Eza”. - 13 March to 28 March 2017. R/V “Sarmiento de Gamboa”. Multidisciplinary: Ichthyology, plankton, oceanography and fishery. - FLEMISH CAP-20 Bottom trawl fishery survey. 1 July to 30 July 2020. R/V “Vizconde de Eza”. - FLEMISH CAP-21 Bottom trawl fishery survey. 6 July to 15 August 2021. R/V “Vizconde de Eza”.
