Biografía
My main research interests are understanding social behaviour of elasmobranchs, and how this contributes to spatial ecology and population structure. I use network-based analyses and animal tag telemetry to understand connections and relationships between individuals.
Social behaviour in sharks and rays is often overlooked, but understanding here is vital to protect species, because interactions between individuals are a key driver of their movements, habitat use, and vulnerability to exploitation/predation.
At IIM I am working with the INMARE group, to understand whether social interactions lead to the formation of critical fine-scale structure in skates (Raja undulata) that aggregate near to the Cíes islands.
