Prevention, Security & Ethics Unit
The scientific and technical work carried out in any research center has implications that go beyond the strictly scientific-technical field.
Ethical and technical considerations, which act as safeguards for safe, moral and diverse science, are essential to obtain the desired impact on society and develop increasingly better science.
Our Prevention, Security and Ethics Unit (UPSE) is in charge of advising and supervising the activities carried out at the IIM, as well as monitoring them to ensure a safe work environment in accordance with the requirements related to animal welfare, biosafety and Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI). To achieve its mission, the UPSE creates protocols and evaluates the requests submitted by the IIM staff.
The UPSE includes five committees that monitor and regulate the proper functioning of the institute regarding different aspects: the Biosafety Committee (CB), the Ethics and Scientific Integrity Committee (CEIC), the Experimentation and Animal Welfare Committee (OEBA), the Equality and Diversity Committee (CID) and, lastly, the Prevention and Occupational Hazards Committee (PRL).
